Does this work for your Safari on Mac?
- Launch Safari.
- In the menu bar at the top of your screen, click Safari and then select Preferences,
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Select "Show Develop menu in menu bar"
- Go back to the Safari menu bar, click Develop and select User Agent
- Select IE 9
Does "Other" give you the option to create a user agent string?
If yes, create a user agent with the following line for Firefox 25:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:25.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/25.0
It will be interesting to see if the Windows string works from your Mac.
Right, but shouldn't she be able to use a custom user agent string that's acceptable to Yahoo, for example the current Firefox user agent string from Firefox for Mac?
I'm going for the fake out to "trick" yahoo like the other guides for windows safari or Opera, not getting the actual upgrade done which is impossible on Mac according to Wikipedia:
Safari 7
Announced at Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) on June 10, 2013, the Safari 7/6.1[40] developer preview brought improvements in JavaScript performance and memory usage, as well as a new look for Top Sites and the Sidebar, and a new Shared Links feature. Additionally, a new Power Saver feature pauses Plugins which aren't in use.[41] Safari 7 for OS X Mavericks and Safari 6.1 (for Lion and Mountain Lion) were released along with OS X Mavericks in an Apple special event on October 22, 2013.[42]
Deb, do the directions above, and this custom user agent string, work for you?
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:25.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/25.0
