Cannot access hotmail account

I have been trying to log in onto my hotmail account but my password was not accepted. Now I was locked out because of having tried too many times.
I know exactly what my password was, but it was an 18-digit password while the login page now only allow maximum 16 digits.

I've also tried to change my password, but unfortunately it only allowed me to follow the instructions sent to the email account which I couldn't login as no alternative emails or security questions were set up when I registered.
What shall I do to either change my password or be able to login??
