What to say to upper management when volunteering to do additional work

New Email
I am a federal officer on a national training team and need to follow a chain of command in sending emails. I will email my team lead who will forward my email to the managers. I want to volunteer to work on days that I am scheduled home, to do interviewing, write documents, etc. as needed or anything that will be beneficial to our team. I need to know how to word the email.

Thank you,

Hi Arbie,

Why not say exactly that? Write an email using good English and grammar, and state that you would like to volunteer extra time. Is the problem that you do not think the team lead will pass the request up the chain? Is the problem that you do not want the team lead to know about your request and you also need to include an explanation to the managers as to why you went around the process (email the team lead) for your organization?
