help!!!quickly please Hotmail IE9

I am unable to send/receive email from my hotmail account(the popup message says that is what is happening anyway) My hotmail worked fine until I installed IE9 the other day as recommended by my computer. Now I have decided to start using Gmail and have all my email accounts going there except hotmail did send my old emails and contacts but says "unable to send/receive from lora_schumacher@hotmail.com)

Does enabling the Compatibility view help to solve the problem?
