Hi Hildy,
Before sending out a mass email I strongly recommend emailing the recently collected email addresses and ask them for permission to email them before sending out any mass mails. Directing them to a signup form if that hasn't already been done is the best option. You'll have a smaller list when done, but it will be a higher quality mailing list.
- Only send email to people who want to receive the email
- Do not send email to addresses you collected over 6 months ago
- Writing an email address in contact info at the shop is not permission to start emailing the address
If you send a mass email to lots of people who are not expecting it you could create a lot of spam and reputation problems for both your domain name and sending IP addresses. If you don't have your own domain name and server you risk getting your service terminated by the current hosting service.
After doing the first step above, verifying the recently collected addresses really do want to receive email from you, import them to
MailChimp and only send them the types of email they are expecting.
You might be better off importing the addresses as members of a Facebook page for the shop and using that page to post deals instead of trying to create and manage an email mailing list for the shop.
