Web Yahoo Mail keeps asking for Password

Using Web Yahoo Mail on Win 7 64bit via Firefox (V40.x.x). This is happening on two different Win 7 systems.

The web app keeps saying our session timed out (it hasn't) and we need to sign in again. Clicking the Sign In button in the message causes Firefox to declare that it can't understand the address along with:
------------------------
Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because one of the following protocols (undefinedhttps) isn't associated with any program or is not allowed in this context.

You might need to install other software to open this address.
---------------------------------------------------------
The Firefox error has a "Try Again" button that leads to the same error. LOOP!

What works is to ignore the Yahoo Mail request to sign in again and just reload the Firefox tab with mail in it.

This error sequence is totally reproducible by accessing the Contacts and making a change to any contact. When you SAVE it you get the Sign In again request. It happens quite frequently at other time too.

Suggestions?

I just tried the above scenario in IE. Works fine. I'm guessing this is an issue with the latest Firefox updates. There have been two in the last few days.
I'm going to visit the Firefox help forum.
I'll report back on what I find.
