What are the Top 10 email clients?

    The original post in this discussion was made in May 2013. Two and a half years later at the end of 2015 the new top 10 list is:

    Apple iPhone
    Gmail
    Apple iPad
    Google Android
    Apple Mail
    Microsoft Outlook
    Yahoo Mail
    Outlook.com
    Windows Live Mail
    AOL Mail

    It may be interesting to note the jump made by Gmail up the list.

    It would be nice to know the breakdown of Gmail desktop vs. the mobile app, but I believe that's not possible due to Gmail Now Caching Images

    What's the source of this list? Or is this your own observation by reference of this forum?

    It's the top 10 things being used to read email.

    Yes you're right that a distinction can made between webmail and email client installed on a computer.

    If you want to reverse engineer the question and target audience, the thread title could have been "What are the top 10 ways people are viewing the email sent by email marketers?"
