From the best to the generally hardest/slowest places to check here are several ways that you can track down a missing email :

• Check the mail logs on your incoming email server
• Check the mail logs on your delivery email servers
• Check your spam folder and mail filter rules
• Have the sender check for bounces in their spam and other mail folders
• Have the sender check the mail logs on their outgoing email servers
