Having trouble deleting wrong email address

I have been trouble deleting a wrong contact address. I googled how to do it. It said to go to the gear in the right corner of my email . There is no heat there. I really need to get the wrong one deleted. I type in the right one and when I send it it comes back. I look and the wrong address is in it. It will not let me sent to the right one. Very frustrating.
