    Hi Susan,

What email service or mail program are you using?

It sounds like you created a spam folder, but you are still receiving spam in your inbox?

I sign in to yahoo and use outlook express. I used to be able to click on "mail" and get spam through yahoo mail but it no longer works. created a folder or file (?) that shows up under my inbox but gets nothing. If I'm getting spam through my inbox I'm not aware of it. How can I tell if an email is spam? As you can tell I'm very new at this.

Is your Yahoo account configured as a POP3 or IMAP account in Outlook Express?

If you are setup as a pop3 account you will not see the Yahoo spam folder.

To fix this problem, add a second configuration for your mail acocunt, but this time select IMAP and use these server settings:

    http://www.emailquestions.com/yahoo-mail/7237-setup-imap-connection-yahoo-mail.html

The IMAP configuration will allow you to see all of your Yahoo Mail folders.

Do not delete the pop3 configuration! That may result in the loss of old email.

If you want to delete the pop3 configuration first you'll need to copy the email from your POP3 profile to the IMAP profile.
