How to configure Mozilla Thunderbird with YPOPs

    1. Click Tools and select Account Settings
    2. Click the Add Account button.
    3. Choose Email Account. Click Next
    4. Type your name and email address in the boxes. Click Next
    5. Choose POP and enter '127.0.0.1' as the incoming server. Click Next.
    6. Add your username. Click Next.
    7. Name your Account in Thunderbird. Click Finish.
    8. Scroll down to the bottom of the Account Settings pane and click on Outgoing server (SMTP).
    9. Click on Advanced. Click on Add.
    10. Type 127.0.0.1 as the outgoing mail server. Port 25.
    11. Check Use name and password.
    12. Type your Yahoo user name as example@yahoo.comThis e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
    13. Click No to Use secure connection and then OK.
    14. Click OK.
    15. Click OK to the Server Settings window.
    16. Now get back into Account Settings
    17. Go back to the Server Settings of you Yahoo Account in the Account Settings pane.
    18. Do not check Use secure connection (SSL) or Use secure authentication.
    19. Click on Advanced.
    20. Choose where you want your emails to go in the POP tab.
    21. Click on the SMTP tab and click on the drop down menu and select 127.0.0.1:25

    same basic setup as for yahoo worked like a charm
