Yahoo has reset the passwords on compromised accounts.
The account information was most likely obtained from a 3rd party database that contained usernames (email addresses) and passwords.
This explanation does not rule out the possibility that email addresses (usernames) and passwords for other email services were not compromised too.
This is also why you should use not the same password on different web sites.
