wrong name on e-mail

When people send me e-mails someone else's name comes up with my e-mail. I have had the same e-mail address for years. The name is someone I know who I helped set up an e-mail and they could use my e-mail address if they could not access their password etc. That has been years ago. I have searched the Hotmail help site but cannot find anything pertaining to this problem.

Hi Beth,

It's not hard for someone to change the name associated with an email address.

Please double check that the real name in your Hotmail account settings is correct.

The problem could be that someone has your name in their settings in a mail program on their computer such as Mozilla Thunderbird or Windows Live Mail.

Also, double check your contacts list for an entry related to the real name & email address mismatch.

It's not clear exactly where you're seeing the problem but I suspect checking all of the above will help you fix the problem.

I will try that. Thanks. I don't see the other person's name but the people sending me an e-mail see their name.
