windows live mail folders disappeared

I have several folders in windows live mail to enable me to file important
emails. These folders have disappeared. if I search for a particular email I can find it and it shows as being in one of these folders. How do I access the folders? I have all my holiday details filed in one of these and would really appreciate some help in finding them.

There are a series of carrots (triangles) that can be clicked to expand your folder list.

If that doesn't help or they don't exist, confirm that you're using IMAP and double check your folder structure by logging into webmail.
