I deleted more than 10,000 emails from a yahoo acct on a macbook pro circa 2009. I thought that would make it less sluggish. Instead, it seems slower? Are the deleted emails actually deleted, or must I folk up with another step? Thanx

Is it only your email or all applications that are sluggish? Did you empty your Trash folder after deleting the emails?

Hello. Thanks for replying...The entire computer is sluggish. And as far as I can see there's no way to empty the trash folder on this version of mail. There's a Trash folder in the app, but no way to empty it securely. When I delete the emails, they don't move to the Trash basket on my dock, the one you can empty securely, they move to the Trash folder in the app. That said, the trash folder in the email app is showing only 622 emails today, down from 10,000 plus, so something is emptying it, albeit slowly. I'm confused (not an uncommon state!).
