unauthorized reading/use of my email account

is it against the law for someone else to access my email if I have not given them permissionto do so, or if I did give them temporary permission to do so
in the past but not in the present? I am inquiring for USA/New York state and for New Zealand. Thank you.

I am not a lawyer. I live in New York.

It's not unusual for the company that you work work for archive and monitor your company email account.

If you gave someone access to your personal email account you should change the password and all account reset information after you are done with the need for shared access.

That's probably not the answer that you are looking for but I hope it helps.
