will be travelling abroad so how do access my outlook account and if my partner is another part of the world can i get and send emails to them?

Will you being accessing Outlook.com from your phone or a computer/laptop?
Before you leave, I recommend turning on 2 step logins and associating your phone with your account so you'll have less of a problem possibly getting locked out for suspicious activity:

Yes, if your partner has email you can still send & receive emails from them as long as you have internet access too.
