Setting up Godaddy mail accounts with Sparrow Mail

Hello, I have Sparrow Mail installed on my Mac but I can't get my Godaddy mail accounts configured with Sprrow. It is a big problem fr me because most of my useful email accounts are with godaddy.com
My other email accounts with Mac Mail, Google, Yahoo, etc work fine, but I can't get my godaddy email accounts to work. I Was thinking about buying Sparrw Mail for my iPad 2 also, but I won't do so until I cn get all my mail to work under Sparrow.

Are there other users of godaddy.com facing the same issue?

Thanks in advance for your support. Bob

There are some common causes to this issue. I will try list them to see if we can get things working.

1) Server settings: There have been times when an email account got setup in a different region than the other in a person's account. You can double check your MX and server settings by following the guide at Checking Your MX Record Settings in the Email Control Center | Go Daddy Help | Go Daddy Support.

2) Incoming port settings: In some cases certain ports can be blocked. If you are using IMAP try both port 993 (with SSL) and port 143 (without SSL). POP3 users can swtich between 995 (SSL) and 110 (without SSL).

3) SMTP settings: Please make sure that you are using authentication for the SMTP server. You may also want to attempt different ports as well. We allow connections on ports 25,80, and 3535 for normal connections and port 465 with SSL.

If you have other questions or need assistance with anything else, our support is available 24/7 at http://x.co/WeHelp. Hope this helps.

Greetings James,

Thank you for your response to my request. Can you please give me some detailed instruction regarding how to get my godddy accounts to work with Sparrow Mail?

I just attempted once again to create a godaddy account from Sparrow by following the specific steps (From Sparrow create a new account)

Your Name: My Name
Email:robert@myaccount.com (from my godaddy domain name)
Password:mypassordforthataccount

I then choose "Custom" as a next to create the account

Imap Server: what do I use in that field? (I've attempted to use either pop.secureserver.net and imap.secureserver.net (NONE OF THEM WORK)!

Login:robert@myaccount.com (from my godaddy domain name)
Password:mypassordforthataccount
Port: (I used AUTO, 993, 995, etc) to no avail

Please give me some specific steps to follow if possible!

Sincerely
Bob

Bob,

I am not familiar enough with Sparrow to be able to provide a step by step setup. I was also unable to find a guide on their site. If you have tried both 143 and 993 for connecting to imap.secureserver.net, then there is a high possiblity that something along the way is blocking Sparrow from connecting. You will want to check your firewall settings and make sure that Sparrow is not blocked as well as the IMAP ports. You may want to also try contacting Sparrow to see if there is anything they can suggest.

Thanks James for all your help. The problem was due to the fact that my Godaddy email accounts were POP3 ONLY and Sparrow Mail only support imap not pop3. I was able to solve the problem by upgrading my godaddy email accounts to imap.

Once again, thanks a lot for your help/support. Bob

I am not yet at the point to set up e-mails but do have a slight problem with Godaddy. I love the hosting and expressed interest in long term down the road, I've already hosted withe Godaddy for over 3 years I think it has been now! They just erased my sites unless I pay a $150 fee. Any help with waiving this perhaps GDJames? I went in to pay $8 for hosting and it's gone. I didn't get a notice that everything would be wiped, just over $8 overdue...I've been so stressed out over an outrageous fee that I don't have in the budget today and Godaddy doesn't have another option other than the $150 fee!

Ny help out with the fee maybe James? They offered to cut the fee down to $75. This small business site doesn't have it, it's a huge exoribiant fee just because I did not pay $8 hosting, no one told me on the phone serveral times.
I have upcoming a need for 50 to 100 employees e-mail set up, maybe my IT department can hire you to set up all these e-mails? Don't have the fee Godaddy! Been with them for 3 years and not a cent of compassion from them, and all my website data was wiped out without even a phone call or e-mail message explaining all this!

Thanks Mik.
I'm really hurting on Godaddy's fee and we don't have it it's just 1 individual. I don't want to pay $75 that's like a year of the hosting :(

zincfit2,

Sorry for the delay in reply. I would love to help out with this fee as a one time courtesy. Please make a ticket at x.co/mail requesting the restore. You will then be issued an incident number. Please reply to me with that number so I can waive the fee for you.

GDJames! You are so nice and you walked in like a superhero to find my thread.
I can erase my posts too maybe Godaddy doesn't want such complaints online, I really like hosting with them. If you want any herbs from the mountains where I live or coffee feel free to send your address.

I'm afraid I am in the same boat! I had all my files on a flash drive (as back-up) but I guess I dragged it to the computer and deleted them. I've been with Godaddy hosting for over 5 years. Wondering if there's any possibility to restore a site without paying the restore fee. I don't have a back-up to my files, and the files must have slipped out if I did not renew the hosting plan & make that payment.
Any possible good news James :)
