Security code

My account has recently given me a 7 day countdown to me needing a security code to login. I've tried many times and I've now been blocked from my account. The email I have on file as a secondary one is no longer in use. There is a drop down option that states I can cluck if its no longer in use. I then put in another email address. I was sent a 4 digit code to the new address.

I then put the code in and the response was that a needed a 5 digit code. I completed the procedure again but again I've only got a four digit code.

I'm going round in circles!

Which email service do you use and how did you get notified of the 7 day countdown?

This sounds suspicious and could be an attempt to steal your account.
