We are allowed 'reasonable personal use' of electronics at work. I use my personal email account on my work computer from time to time. Is there any way for my employer to know the content or recipient of my personal email? I use msn.com/hotmail.

Yes. Your work has several potential ways of monitoring your internet usage including viewing your screen, logging all web site traffic, and reading the temporary files on your computers hard drive. If you have any concern about them seeing any information in your personal email account you should not use it from work. Also, checking personal email accounts can open up your work to virus and other problems.

Thanks for the info. A little further information maybe? If I delete my temporary files, can they find past email? And I have to say budget restrictions keep this system rather out of date. If they log website activity, is that just the site or can they actually see the content and recipient of my email?

Hotmail logins are https but the rest of your traffic is http.

Basic monitoring will see each website url that you are hitting.

If your work monitors every bit and byte then yes they can see the detailed email information.
