PDF attachment won't open after replying

After opening an attachment and replying, the attachment is no longer able to be open. I appears as a line on the bottom of the email when I look in sent mail.
<COA Request_Property.pdf> This is what appears and I don't know how to open it.

I am using a Mac Book so this might be a Mac questions.
