but when I try to use it to get in to my gmail account {I quit trying over a year ago} I get nowhere. My IT son insists I switch to gmail exclusively but when I use my name (?) it says someone already has that account. That would be me. Maybe it was th address I've gone to using exclusively, pntrmarc@live.com . Can't get in.

Does your son have any emails sent to him from your Gmail account? That would confirm which address you had with Gmail.
