messages are gone

hi there - I opened up my Hotmail.ca account after 6 months of not using it and all the messages are gone. where did they go and is there any way of getting them back?

Sorry, but no, if you recreated/reactivated an account that had been deactivated for inactivity it's not possible to get back the old email.

how long can you go before the account is deactivated?

It's been a moving target over the years. The current time to become deactivated appears to be 270 days.
