Mail2web

I was curious if anyone here uses mail2web. I have heard a lot of people raving about them, but it seems kind of fishy. I mean you do not even register and supposedly you can pick up your mail from anywhere on the planet. You just put your information in and then you get your mail. I have tried it with a yahoo account, just to check it out and it would not work. So I thought I would ask and see what you alls thoughts were on this site?

No, I would not provide my e-mail address and password to a 3rd party site.

At first glance I can see where the business features might be of interest to a small company on a low budget that does not want to pay Microsoft for licenses.

I have no problem managing my e-mail using standard forwards to a primary e-mail account.

We alot of people like to check their mail from their office. And their work has certain sites blacklisted and such. And I was told this site can get you past that, but I do not know. Like I said I was just interested in other peoples opinions if they have used it and it worked?

Ah, I see. I did not consider that motivation for using such as service. Personally I'm not a fan of corporate policies that restrict people in this way. If people are getting their work done who cares if they check their gmail during lunch? In that case it's probably best not to risk your job and work around it. If I really wanted to check my accounts I'd create my own https web proxy off network or do something that would allow me to ssh out and use a text based e-mail reader such as pine to read my e-mail. Both options would leave the control with me and not force me to share my passwords with untrusted 3rd parties.

I would do something very similar, but I like pictures. I would do it with X, tunnel linux mail client (or even entire desktop) through an SSH connection. The other caveat is, working the letter vs. the spirit of the law. If policies are in place to prevent you from getting to certain sites, installing a work around solution will most likely put your position in jeopardy is certainly not worth losing your job over, wait till you're home.
