While checking the original source on an email I received I found the IP address info client-ip=2607:f8b0:400d:c09::22a. Is that a forged address? It does not look like the usual numbers in the email source.

Hi Mark,
Without the full email headers it's hard to say for certain.
In general, you can only trust the email headers created by mail servers that you trust.
Also, the difference from the "usual numbers" that you're noticing is that you posted an IPv6 address and are used to IPv4 addresses that look like 255.255.255.255
