My gmail account has a virus. I have a Mac and was told I don't need virus protection software for it. Friends first let me know of the problem yesterday. This virus has been repeatedly emailing everyone in my address book since then. Help! How to remove?

I sometimes access my account from a PC, which it doesn't seem to like when I do it. Host independence is one of the reasons I use gmail.

It's possible that your Gmail account was compromised. It's also possible that a shared contact was compromised and your address was selected as the From: to conceal who was actually hacked.
