I can't gete my new aol.com email account to work

    I've just got myself a new aol.com email account but it's just not working. For a start, although I can send an email to the box and don't get a bounceback, if I log on through my account online the email doesn't come through. But I can log on fine with my password and I can send emails from my aol.com address, so AOL clearly knows who I am.

    In addition, when I try to add the account to Thunderbird, which is the email client I use, I'm told that it doesn't recognise the username or the password or both. I've been onto a couple of forums and fiddled with every parameter in the account settings that people with similar problems have suggested and it's still not working.

    What could I be doing wrong? Help, please!
