How to try the new Gmail inbox

Hello,

Do you want to try the new Gmail inbox with category tabs?



Click your Gear icon and select Configure Inbox

Turning on the new inbox does not change your navigation or labels on the the left side of your screen.

Caution: If you use the multiple inboxes Gmail lab it will be disabled and replaced by the new inbox tabs menu.

Warning: This might be a one way action. It is not apparent how to turn off the new inbox once it's enabled!

In addition to multiple inboxes being lost the behavior of stars has changed.

If you rely heavily on stars for organizing your priorities you'll find that only stars, and not exclamations or other symbols, are included in the inbox.

Any star that's not an actual star is no longer displayed and each individual label needs to be monitored for them.

The fix to see all your stars is to uncheck all of the inbox except primary.

Once you turn off all of updates, social, forums etc you inbox will look like the old Gmail.

For me that means showing all my starred messages via the multiple inboxes lab.
