How to report spam text messages

Do you often receive annoying spam texts on your cell phone? NEVER respond to them. If you respond, it confirms that the number is a working number and you will probably end up starting a snowball effect. They will sell your information to other companies and it will only get worse from there.

Many times they will say you won a fabulous trip or they have money for you that you need to claim. These are SCAMS!! Do not fall for it! Some phones allow you to block numbers directly on your phone but you can and should also report them to the government.

There is a National Do Not Call registry where you can register your home AND cell numbers. Telemarketers are supposed to check the site and remove your numbers from their database. If they contact you, they face stiff penalties. There are some exceptions (charities and companies that you have done business with etc) but not very many. Since registering my cell number, it has DRASTICALLY reduced the calls I get from telemarketers. It only takes a few minutes to register.
