To organize email from friends and family in a Yahoo account I recommend using mail filers.

To get started, right click on an email from a friend or family member, and then select "Filter emails like this..."

Next, complete these details and Save the message rule:
  • Use the persons name as the Filter Name
  • the From should have their email address
  • The To: should be your Yahoo email address
  • Pick a folder from the menu called "Then move the message to this folder"
    • If you want to create a new folder, scroll down to the bottom of the list and select New Folder
  • When you're done, click the blue Save button to save the filter

If you have a large inbox and need to cleanup existing email you can sort your email by sender:

Yahoo sort by sender.jpg

After sorting by sender, check the box next to emails from them, then use the Move menu to move the email to a folder:

If you have too much email for this process to be efficient, a mail client such as Mozilla Thunderbird with more powerful search and move functions can be used to connect to Yahoo with their IMAP settings to manage your inbox and folders during the cleanup process.

Thanks for the help. I think I can figure this out now from your prompts. Now I can recover from email overload and begin working on unwanted mail. The forum is great! Thanks again.
