How does mail.com spam filter work?

When I go to my spam box (on webmail), I only see about 10 messages per month. Why so few? I have had my mail.com address for many years and am sure it receives a lot more than this.

It's possible that additional spam emails are blocked before they are accepted by the incoming mail.com servers and delivered to your spam folder.

Many mail service providers use IP reputation and other filtering mechanisms that block obvious viruses/spam and only deliver the questionable content to the spam folder.

Makes sense. So now if I turn spam filtering off, will I get all of the stage 1 spam and the questionable messages as well? (I know, I could try it but I thought I would ask first and see how it usually works.) :)
