Hotmail account doesn't exist?

Ok so a long time ago I made an Email account around about 3 years ago and I registered for a game, now my old email tells me that I have an old hotmail account but when I try and sign in it say's
That Microsoft account doesn't exist. Enter a different email address or get a new account.

I'm abosoutley sure this is the right account, I tried changing my password but it still doesn't recognize it (the account), I can give you the email adrress if you can help me with it, thanks!!

It's important as I might get other accounts so I can get prizes etc.
