Gmail Important Folder

How can I stop thousands of emails being copied to this folder? I only want those emails stored there that I select with the icon to save to the folder that I select.

I can find no options for configuring my gmail.

Will I receive a notification that this post has received a reply?

Are you saying that you have a gmail label (folder) that is receiving the unwanted email? Check your filter settings.
click Gear icon
select settings
click filters

(you will get an instant notification from this thread unless you change your preferences in your user panel here on the forum)
