export wlm folder as eml files

I understanl how to export individual messages from WLM by drag and drop. This retains the subject line in the eml file name and the date modified as the message date. If I use the export tool it exports only part of the folder [7 messages from a folder of 690 messages, I cannot see why] but more importantly the file name is much less useful, just apparently a random string of numbers and letters. Is there any way of selecting a wlm folder and drag dropping into an XP folder so that I retain the useful file names.
