email sent to the wrong person

I sent an email to the wrong email address. When I realised that I had done this I emailed this address again asking them to delete my previous email. I had no response so do not know if the email address is even valid

Is there a way of finding out?

If the email wasn't valid, you would have received a bounced email (daemon error) message. If they didn't respond, it's possible that since they didn't recognize your email/name that they marked it as spam. It is also possible that it's an old email address that someone doesn't use anymore. It is always advised not to open an email if you do not know who it's from so it was most likely ignored or deleted as spam.
