Deleted emails

My emails are being deleted from the inbox and trash folders, sometimes before I have read them, both on my laptop and ipad.
What's going on?

Hi Tony,

This can be a sign that your account has been compromised and a spammer is deleting your email to help cover their tracks.

Immediately change your password and verify that alternate contact info, security Q&A, and any forwarding addresses belong to you.

I highly recommend turning on the 2-step login verification too.
