can i automatically direct incoming mail to a folder ?

windows live mail 2011, windows xp
Can I have incoming mails be automatically directed to a folder? I'm getting a couple dozen a day from some community work and along with other activities the in box is flooded and it is making for too much work.
Thanks for any help. I'm definitely not a techy sort.

Newer versions of Windows Live Mail on newer operating systems have rules functionality.

I got the old WLM installed on XP to test and I agree I do not see any way to create rules with Windows Live Mail 2009 running on Windows XP.

To clarify I wasn't permitted to install 2011 (the same version as you) by the Microsoft installer and I am looking at WLM 2009.
