attached files in emails

Hi,I cannot open any attachments in my emails with Microsoft word starter .It keeps coming up with Microsoft word experienced error trying to open file.Any assistance with this problem would be much appreciated

Do you mean microsoft viewer? Also, What is the extension of the attachments?
