AOL webmail: icon takes me to web site

I'm helping a relative troubleshoot his AOL webmail problem.

Sometimes when he clicks on the 'new mail' icon, instead of seeing his mail in the right-hand pane he sees one of his favorites (web sites). For example, the favorite might be nytimes.com and he'll see the nytimes.com page in the right-hand AOL email pane.

This happens maybe 10% of the time. 90% of the time he sees his new mail in the right-hand pane (as expected) when clicking on the 'new mail' icon.

He's using Firefox v25.0.1.

Is this a known problem, by any chance?

Thanks.

I'm not sure yet if my best guess is the occasional broken ad on the right side getting to load a new page, or if the relative is accidentally hitting the Today on AOL button above the inbox button.

To rule out the ads, can you try installed ad block plus for firefox?

Can you also take a screen shot of the problem the next time you see it?

popowich, I already had/have ad block plus installed and enabled. The 'unexpected' web page that shows up in the right-hand pane is one of my Favorites.

Next time I see this I'll post a screen shot.

Thanks.
