affiliate links are a red flag for most emailers

The following comment was part of an email discussion sent to me recently :

"affiliate links are a red flag for most emailers"

Probably so, but wouldn't the same double redirection commonly used in web sites also work well for email as long as your are sending to people who are expecting (or will be likely to take action on...) the email from you?

For example, I would not send my direct affiliate link for Godaddy in an email :

<I'm not even going to post it> http://spammy-looking-affiliate-link.com

But I would be more likely to include the following :

Low cost domain names, domain transfers, web hosting, email accounts, and so much more.

You'll probably have to hover over that to see the link, but it's a link that redirect to my affiliate link, before sending the user to Godaddy.

Pssst... don't forget that existing Godaddy affiliates (I figure those reading this post qualify for this deal) get 20% off orders over $100 with Godaddy coupon code cjaff20 :)
