250 Message Queued (Timeout reading DATA command response from backend)

Did your smtp mail server log this error message when relaying an email?


It appears the destination mail server accepted the email but logged & reported an error.

Have the recipients email support check for an overloaded virus and spam filter that might be timing out and accidentally destroying emails.

If you find that this is the case, check the filter settings to see if they can return a 4xx error code instead of 250 when the filter times out while scanning an email. That will result in the email being retried later so that you won't lose emails when the scanner times out.
