spam or not

I came across a hothook up email on my boyfriends emails it was in his felted emails it actually says his name in it he said it's spam it states my boyfriends name then states that the lady has given access to her photos. He has said it's spam I tried to click on the access photos but it doesn't take you anywhere need some help as I'm confused.

It is most likely that it is spam. Is your friend's name also in the e-mail address? Spammers are very clever to use that name in the body text again. Oh yeah, never click on a link or image in a spam email. There is a good chance that your computer will then be infected with a virus.

they replied with empty email. is it spam?

I'd send a new email to them and confirm your application was received. Also let them know you're following up on the blank email received. Maybe they have a misconfigured out of office or auto responder sending blanks, maybe something else went wrong.
