recent yahoo mail error

I have just started getting the following error when I try to send a message to one of my contacts:
501 Syntax error in parameters or arguments.
The error is that a quotation mark (") is being added to the contacts email address. I've checked my address book and his address is entered correctly.
Any ideas?

Is there an auto complete when you start to type their address that is creating the error?

Also check their reply-to, could their From: or Reply-to: be wrong and it's not seen until you hit the reply button?

Is it only when you send them a new email or are replying to an email from them?

Are there any quotes in the address book entry?

There should not be surrounding quotes.

Also, try deleting and recreating the address book entry.

I believe I stated that the address was entered correctly. there are no quotes.
Thanks. Recreating the address book entry solved the problem for now.

Maybe you can explain why I can't find this thread on the E-mail Questions site. I did a search for my user name and this thread came up as being in the yahoo mail sub-forum but, it doesn't show there. There might be something wrong as the latest post that's showing is 4 weeks old.

Hi jimbir,

Sometimes quotes are saved & hidden and not displayed that's why recreating and sometimes retyping can help.

You can scroll down in the Yahoo forum to find your thread. The threads at the top of the support forums are "stuck" to the top and are generally our how-to guides.

OK. now i found it. You got to scroll waaaaay down the page. Since there's so many, you might consider moving them to a "how to guides" sub-forum.
Thanks again
Jim

I agree that's very odd unless it was recently re-saved incorrectly or something happened to it behind the scenes at yahoo.

By the way, we noticed there is an issue with having to scroll "waaaay down" the page because there are many sticky threads. We are working on reducing the number of sticky threads to make recent threads easier to find. This is especially helpful to the average user that isn't familiar with navigating a forum.

It's tough deciding which threads should be sticky sometimes because most contain such useful information. We try to make it easy to find for anyone browsing a particular forum section.

Thanks for reminding us about it so we can work on it.

Happy New Year!
