Images are blocked in emails received

Hi!
When I receive some emails or some newsletters some images are blocked & replaced with a tiny black box with a white "X" & the word "Description" & letters & numbers next to it, (see below). I tried google-ing the letters & numbers, but nothing's found. Is there a setting I need to change so I can see the things that are blocked-out? I have IncrediMail "Protection Center", but I didn't see anything in the Settings that looked wrong, but I might have missed something.
Please tell me how I can receive ALL images that come in my emails. Oh, the images that are blocked are from "approved" sources, like friends, family & newsletters I subscribe to, NOT from Spam or unknown sources.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Best Regards,
Nuts4Mutts :)
IMPORTANT NOTE: For some reason I can't get the example of the "black box & white "X" & Description", etc to show up here! Hopefully, you'll know what I'm trying to describe. Thanks again!

Hi!
Yes, I made a screenshot...I hope I'm able to upload it OK...you might have to enlarge the image, as the letters are a bit small.
Thanks again for your help!

Hi Nuts4Mutts,

Please see these directions for getting images to display from all senders in your IncrediMail:

http://www.emailquestions.com/incre...mages-red-x-description-cant-view-images.html

Also, if you don't mind responding, I would appreciate it if you could take a moment to reply to this post:

There must be some reasons why you like IncrediMail and I'm very interested to know which features it has that keeps it's users interested in the program.

:thanks:

Hi!
Thanks for the solution, I'll know when one of my newsletters comes in tomorrow to see if it works.
Thank you for your prompt response, too! I also posted an answer about the reasons I use IncrediMail.
Thanks again for your help!
Best Regards,

Hi!
I'm sorry to report that the above solution did NOT resolve the issue...images in emails & newsletters are STILL BLOCKED. Please tell me what else to try, as I'd really like to be able to see everything that's sent to me.
Thanks in advance for your continued help.
Best Regards,
Nuts4Mutts :)

I uninstalled IncrediMail so I won't be able to provide any more screen shots from that mail program.

What anti-virus software do you have on your computer? It might need to be configured to allow images in email.

I also did some Google searches and found that IncrediMail uses features from IE, which means you may need to update settings within Internet Explorer:

Internet Explorer Advanced Multimedia Image Settings.JPG

  • Open Internet Explorer
  • Click on the Tools menu and select Internet Options
  • Go to the Advanced tab and scroll down to the Multimedia section
  • Check the boxes for Play animation in web pages and Show pictures
  • Click OK
Did updating your settings in Internet Explorer fix the problem?

Hi!
I don't use IE, I use Firefox EXCLUSIVELY; however, I'll check the settings you mentioned & let you know the results. I figured that when changing the IncrediMail setting you mentioned didn't work, it was probably a issue with something else...I just didn't know where to start looking.
I'll post again with the results. Wish me luck!
Thanks,
Nuts4Mutts :)

Yes, even though you might not use IE, the IncrediMail program apparently uses IE internally for displaying HTML emails.

Please let us know if the IE settings update works for you. Thanks!

I'm back...I opened IE just to check for your suggestions & the things you mentioned were already checked...the only one that wasn't checked was "Show image download placeholders". I don't know what that means, but could checking it solve the problem? Do you know what I should look for in Firefox? I looked over its "Tools" & "Options", but I don't know what I'm looking for as things are worded differently than in IE.
As far as AV program, I use Trend Micro Titanium Maximum Security & Windows Firewall...do you know what exception(s) I would need to make?
Thanks again!

Try turning off your Trend Micro by right clicking it in the system tray and selecting Exit.

Do images work in your email while it's not running?

Don't forget to restart Trend Micro after the test!
