Anytime! Let us know if you ever have any more email related questions in the future. :)
Theresa,
May I ask of your expertise with another question, this time not related to the scamming issue.
I use Hotmail.com and have the facility to include emoticons in messages. My question is; can I 'instal' emojis in place of or in addition to emoticons.
Apologies if I am approaching forum questions the wrong way.

I just checked it out and do you realize there are roughly 700 emoticons already for hotmail? I can't imagine needing more than that! :) I am not aware of anything more that you can install. If you do find something, It is most likely/definitely full of malware. It would be very bad for your operating system. I would strongly discourage using it. Are you having difficulty finding all of the emoticons already in hotmail?

Theresa,
Yes I can get all of the emoticons on my Hotmail. What I am trying get are emojis, which for want of a better description these are emoticons with movement ie instead of a static smiley face the facial features move to emphasise the 'message'. Apologies again if I'm not explaining myself. For info I get emails from a friend in Palm Springs CA ( I am in the UK) who includes these emojis but how she gets them is keeping it a secret! Just thinking about it my friend always sends her emails from her Samsung Tablet, wonder if emojis are only available for a tablet as an app?

Not Hotmail, she is with Yahoo. Don't know if it has any influence or may be adding to the confusion but I've read the 'elusive' emojis are already installed on Windows 8 and above, mine is Windows 7. With your obvious knowledge, do you know the difference between emoticons and emojis? I thought I did but am rapidly becoming confused!

Nevermind. It doesn't matter what she uses. I found something. Remember, we do not recommend using it. It most definitely has malware. It's called smiley central.

SmileyCentral's emoticons are the best on the web and they're free! Only at emoticons.funwebproducts.com

I encourage you to read the following article before you decide to use it or not. It explains the warnings that go along with it.
PC Hell: Smiley Central Removal Instructions
Ok. Disregard my latest message re Yahoo etc. On your advice I'll forget all about them. Many thanks again.
Bye.

Sorry I'm late answering this. Emoticons are the smiley faces that are mainly meant to show emotions. Emojis (like the ones found on the iPhone) can be small images of many different things. For example on the iPhone, there are animals, food, buildings, symbols, modes of transportation, symbols for different holidays etc etc. The possibilities are endless.

I used smiley central in the past when I first got my computer and didn't know anything about spyware/malware. It was fun to use, but knowing what I know now, it's not worth it.

If there is a paid version of something similar, they might have the integrity to not have spyware accompany the install, but you can't count on it.

I'm frustrated with many upgrade installs for things like Java script. You have to be very careful to uncheck the accompanying install for mcafee virus detector. Something like that should not be checked by default to install. It is an option and people should have to check that if they want it. I feel it's shady to already have it checked. I've had to cancel several upgrade installs because I was in a hurry and missed the box that was already checked. Then I have to go back and begin the upgrade install again and make sure I uncheck it. They know what they're doing having it already checked. They know it's a shady practice but they continue to do it.
