Why is Yahoo asking me to verify my phone number?

Occasionally, after logging in, Yahoo Mail will ask you to confirm your phone number.

This is a security mechanism designed to help keep your account information up to date in case your account gets hacked.

To help ensure the page you are seeing really belongs to Yahoo please make sure that you open a new browser tab and type in mail.yahoo.com or that you are using an official toolbar such as the Yahoo Toolbar to check your email.

Also, even though you will be occasionally asked to confirm your phone number, NEVER reply to an email, web page, or phone call that asks you to confirm your Yahoo account password.
