Default wlsetup-web.exe is not a valid Win32 application

I tried to install the new Windows Live Mail 2011 on my primary computer and ran into the following error :

wlsetup-web.exe is not a valid Win32 application

After a few minutes of downloading the installer a couple more times I checked the system requirements :

Operating system: 32- and 64-bit editions of Windows Vista Service Pack 2 with the Platform Update for Windows Vista, or Windows 7, or Windows Server 2008 with Service Pack 2 and the Platform Update for Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2.

It looks like you need a newer operating system than Windows XP to install Windows Live Mail 2011.

Correction:

You don't need a newer version of Windows to get WLM, just an older version of the download that works with XP.

Click here to get Windows Live Mail 2011 for Windows XP.
