Yahoo Mail Accounts Hacked - Passwords Reset by Yahoo

    Yahoo has reset the passwords on compromised accounts.

    The account information was most likely obtained from a 3rd party database that contained usernames (email addresses) and passwords.

    This explanation does not rule out the possibility that email addresses (usernames) and passwords for other email services were not compromised too.

    This is also why you should use not the same password on different web sites.

    Yahoo is taking the following actions:

    • Yahoo is resetting passwords and letting users turn on second sign in (2-step login) verification to get back their accounts.
    • Yahoo is working with federal law enforcement to find and prosecute the perpetrators responsible for the attack.
    • Yahoo has implemented additional measures to block attacks against Yahoo’s systems.
