Why use the yahoo mail app on your iPhone?

I learned today that in addition to the mail app that I use for yahoo on my iPhone, there is also a separate yahoo mail app. Why wouldn't I just want to use the mail app on my phone as I have been doing all along? Why would I want a yahoo mail app?

I'm guessing there's no real reason for it other than so that Yahoo can serve you ads in their app that you don't see in the iPhone's Mail App.

You're probably right. That definitely makes me not want to use it.

Based on the pockets of outage reports that I've seen I suspect that the Yahoo Mail app has better/different server resources available than everyone else connecting with other mail programs over POP3 & IMAP for example from the iOS mail app and desktop users using Mozilla Thunderbird.
