What does this mean?

Today I got this message when trying to send an email. "The size of the message you are trying to send exceeds the global size limit (41697280 bytes) of the server. The message was not sent; reduce the message size and try again."
I've sent much larger files then this limit and have never had a problem. This is the first time I've ever seen this.

It appears your email service set an outgoing email size limit policy of 40MB

Depending on the file type you might be able to zip if before attaching. If it's still too big, try using a service such as Google Drive to share the file.
